On Thursday, The Washington Post's mobile website was hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA), the same hacker collective that targeted the Post in an August 2013 incident impacting several news sites.Post writer Brian Fung reported that the “hackers supporting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad hijacked parts of the Post's web site so that users were redirected to a site controlled by the SEA” – a feat reminiscent of the 2013 attack.Section pages on the mobile site were apparently impacted in the Thursday hack, but not article pages, Washington Post CIO Shailesh Prakash confirmed. Prakash added in his statement that “no customer information was impacted” and the situation was resolved. Instart Logic, a Post content-delivery partner that was targeted to cause the “roughly 30-minute disruption,” is investigating the incident, Fung reported.
