Scammers phishing using fake Macy’s delivery emails

Share

Macy's is reportedly investigating a phishing scam that uses a fake Macy's delivery email notification for what is usually a non-existent order.

Potential victims receive emails with subject lines that read similar to "Macys.com Order #5698 ready for delivery," despite them never making an order, according to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) scam alert.

Once opened, there is no mention of the delivery, but instead the email says that customers have won a prize in the retailer's “monthly give-away” and instructs the user to click malicious link to collect their prize.

However, there is no monthly give-away and the BBB said the links in similar scam emails have been used to steal user information or infect them with malware.
