Russian logistics giant taken down by Ukrainian hackers

Flags of Russia and Ukraine. No war. Peace. Relationship between Ukraine and Russia.

Cybernews reports that major Russian logistics firm Eltrans+ had its operations significantly disrupted after its information and communications infrastructure was targeted by Ukraine's military intelligence agency, or HUR, and Ukrainian hacktivist operation BO Team on Dec. 6.

Over 700 Eltrans+ computers and servers have been impacted by the intrusion, which led to the erasure of more than 1,000 user accounts, as well as the encryption or destruction of 165 TB of sensitive information, according to sources speaking with Ukrainian media.

The attack against Eltrans+ comes after a series of Ukrainian cyber strikes against Russia, the most recent of which was a distributed denial-of-service attack against Russia's SPB payment system and leading telecommunications firm TransTeleCom.

Such a development follows a Google Threat Intelligence Group report detailing Russia's mounting dependence on cyberwarfare, which has since prompted NATO to evaluate more aggressive actions against the country's intensifying hybrid intrusions.
