Report: Cyberattacks primarily aimed at US

Financially motivated attacks accounted for the bulk of cyber incidents, while public administration was the most targeted industry, followed by the healthcare and social assistance, finance and insurance, and information sectors.

Although global cybercrime costs are expected to increase from $10.5 trillion this year to $15.63 trillion in 2029 amid the increasing exploitation of AI, cybersecurity defenses continue to lag. Cybersecurity tech has been completely absent across 20% of small and medium-sized businesses, even if cyberattacks have successfully compromised 59% of organizations during the past year.
