Rep. Amash introduces bill to repeal fledgling Cybersecurity Act

Just one month after President Barack Obama signed the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA) of 2015 into law, a bipartisan coalition of U.S. House members led by Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) introduced a bill that would repeal the legislation.

Supporters of the original act, including the Obamaadministration, argue the bill creates a system for the voluntary sharing ofcyberthreat intelligence between private corporate entities and governmentagencies. But opponents, including some privacy advocates, insist that it infringeson citizens' privacy, and also that it was furtively slipped into a largeromnibus appropriates bill that was signed into law on Dec. 18, 2015.

Amash was joined by Rep.John Conyers (D-Mich.), Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), Rep. Thomas Massie(R-Ky.), Rep. Ted Poe (R-Tex.), and Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.).
