Reddit, one of the most popular link-sharing and discussion websites, has decided to update its privacy policy, with significant changes added in the form of an “involuntary pornography” section.
Set to go into effect on March 10, the new policy bans revenge porn as well as links to photographs, videos or digital images of a person “in a state of nudity” or engaging “in any act of sexual conduct” if the content has been posted without the person's consent.
Reddit drew a significant amount of criticism in 2014 following the iCloud hack that resulted in a slew of high-profile celebrity nude photos surfacing online.
One of the major hubs hosting the explicit stolen content was on the /r/TheFappening sub-reddit. Following the incident, Reddit did take down the content associated with the hack.
