U.S. agricultural machinery manufacturer AGCO had some of its production facilities affected by a ransomware attack, reports BleepingComputer.
Some portions of AGCO's IT systems may be shut down to contain the attack, which is expected to significantly affect operations in the next few days.
"AGCO is still investigating the extent of the attack, but it is anticipated that its business operations will be adversely affected for several days and potentially longer to fully resume all services depending upon how quickly the Company is able to repair its systems. The Company will provide updates as the situation progresses," said AGCO.
BleepingComputer notes that Russian hacktivists may likely be behind the attack, which came amid AGCO's announcement that it would assist Ukraine.
The attack on AGCO comes after the FBI warned about increasingly prevalent ransomware attacks against the U.S. agricultural sector, with two incidents already reported earlier this year.
Ransomware attacks have also impacted NEW Cooperative and Crystal Valley last year.
