Seventy-four percent of IT security decision-makers around the world noted the potential failure of prevention-first security approaches and systems, saying that their organizations have been impacted by a significant security incident between February 2021 and February 2022, VentureBeat reports.
Cybersecurity threats have been outpacing security defenses, a Vectra survey revealed, with 71% of respondents saying that current cybersecurity tools and innovation lags behind threat actors. Existing security guidelines, tools, and policies have also been behind attackers' techniques, tactics, and protocols as noted by 71% of respondents.
Meanwhile, more than 79% reported purchasing subpar security tools that failed to identify modern attacks. However, 43% of those whose organizations reported experiencing significant cyber events said that they have been notified by their security systems, in contrast to 70% of security breaches identified by third-party organizations and systems in 2015.
More organizations have also become more confident about their systems' capabilities in averting attacks, with 37% expressing full confidence on having complete threat visibility.
