Poland’s nuclear research center thwarts cyberattack

Security Affairs reports that Poland's National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) successfully detected and blocked a cyberattack targeting its IT infrastructure, preventing any operational disruption.

The intrusion attempt occurred in the past few days and was identified by NCBJ's security systems and procedures. The rapid response allowed staff to secure affected systems, ensuring the integrity of operations. Director Jakub Kupecki confirmed that research, production, and the MARIA research reactor continue to operate without interruption.

The institute is collaborating with government bodies, including NASK-PIB and the Ministry of Digital Affairs, to bolster defenses for critical infrastructure. Initial indicators suggest a possible connection to Iran, though this is being investigated as potentially a deliberate misdirection.
