Poland has announced averting a major cyberattack against its energy infrastructure late last month, which has been attributed to Russia, reports The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future.Multiple renewable energy installations across the country had their communications simultaneously targeted to potentially cause a widespread power outage in what seemed to be a coordinated sabotage campaign, according to officials."We have not seen this type of attack before, but we should expect it to happen again," said Polish Energy Minister Miosz Motyka. Additional details regarding the thwarted cyberattack and the measures unveiled in its wake were not provided.Mounting cyberattacks have been launched by Russia-linked threat operations against the critical infrastructure of Ukraine-supporting Poland since its war with Ukraine began in 2022. Meanwhile, repeated Russian drone and missile strikes against Ukraine's energy infrastructure have prompted an "unprecedented" energy crisis in the country, noted Ukrainian officials.
