Passwordless browser extension unveiled by 1Password

Password management provider 1Password has unveiled a new browser extension with automated login saving, storing, and autofilling capabilities in a bid to advance passwordless authentication amid the growing prevalence of credential theft, VentureBeat reports. Such an extension, which is available for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Brave browsers, supports Apple, Google, Microsoft, Okta, Facebook, Twitter, GitHub, and other third-party providers, according to 1Password. "The new browser extension feature that we launched today supports enterprises needs to manage Shadow IT, securing access to the apps and websites that fall outside the IT teams purview, on behalf of users and the organizations they work for. Our new browser extension helps users remove that guesswork by letting 1Password remember which third-party provider they used to sign in with, and to get them to where they're going more quickly," said 1Password Chief Product Officer Steve Won, who noted that human-focused and zero-knowledge security provide its offering an edge over its competitors in the passwordless market.
