Silicon Angle reports that OpenAI has announced its intention to acquire Promptfoo Inc., a startup specializing in testing and security evaluation for artificial intelligence applications. The acquisition aims to bolster OpenAI's capabilities in ensuring the safety and reliability of AI systems.

Promptfoo, founded in 2024, offers a platform designed to evaluate AI prompts and model behavior, addressing critical risks such as prompt injection, data leakage, and jailbreak attacks. The technology allows developers and security teams to systematically test AI responses to structured inputs and adversarial prompts. Its framework supports integrations with development tools and CI/CD pipelines, enabling local testing, red-team simulations, and regression testing across different model versions.

OpenAI plans to integrate Promptfoo's technology into its OpenAI Frontier platform, which is used for building and operating AI coworkers, to enhance agent behavior testing and risk detection before deployment.
