Put off by the absence of eager bidders looking to purchase the, most likely fake, stolen NSA hacking tools, The Shadow Brokers Saturday posted a broken-English rant to voice their discontent.
The rant reiterated that the auction is real as well as the groups estimated value of the stolen goods, which they tallied at $1 million, and criticized researchers and the media alike before arriving at the conclusion that “peoples is not thinking auction is being real,” the group said in the message posted to Medium.
The group also attempted to assure people that the auction is not a scam that they are not looking for fame but only intend to sell the hacking tools and never be heard from again. A Q&A was also added to the message to explain the reasoning behind the group's decision to auction the alleged software in their chosen manner.
