New hacking forum exposes RaidForums member data

Share

SiliconAngle reports that disrupted hacking site RaidForums had its member database, including information from 478,870 members, leaked on the new Exposed hacking forum, which is claimed to be owned and administered by the threat actor dubbed as "Impotent." Impotent has exposed the RaidForums member data, including usernames and email addresses, as well as registration dates, hashed passwords, and other details as part of a single SQL file but has not provided any information on how the leaked database had been acquired. "There's no telling how this data was gathered, whether it was a new breach or just reusing data from another older breach, but it continues a well-worn pattern of malicious websites leaking customer data. It turns out that most malicious websites are no better secured than the sites they used to collect their ill-gotten gains. And law enforcement has long used data compromised from malicious websites to track down criminals," said KnowBe4 data-driven defense evangelist Roger Grimes.
