New fraud tools target AI-powered synthetic identity theft

A wave of new fraud prevention tools from biometrics and digital identity providers aims to combat increasingly sophisticated threats, particularly those fueled by generative AI, Biometric Update reports.

Equifax has launched Synthetic Identity Risk, an AI-powered product using machine learning to analyze identity data and detect synthetic fraud at account opening or during ongoing management. ComplyCube released an Enhanced Compliance Suite featuring a no-code, drag-and-drop KYC workflow builder that allows real-time adjustment of verification journeys based on risk signals. iDenfy debuted a specialized Adobe Commerce application to streamline identity verification for online retailers, balancing compliance with customer experience.

Seon announced a strategic partnership with Shopify specialist Domaine to integrate real-time fraud prevention, including data enrichment and action orchestration, directly into merchants' platforms. Finally, LexisNexis Risk Solutions introduced IDVerse for Insurance, leveraging biometric verification and AI models to authenticate identities across the insurance workflow. These releases highlight a sector-wide push to shift from reactive loss recovery to proactive, adaptive prevention as fraudsters gain new technological capabilities.
