Mozilla has announced a significant update to its Firefox browser, aiming to give users greater control over AI functionalities, HackRead reports.Firefox 148, scheduled for release on February 24, 2026, will introduce a dedicated AI controls section within desktop settings. This update includes a "global kill switch" allowing users to completely opt out of all AI features. For those who wish to retain some AI capabilities, granular control will be available. Users can choose to enable or disable specific features such as translations, link previews, AI tab grouping, and PDF alt-text generation. The browser will also cease sending data to external companies for AI processing via API calls when these features are disabled.These new controls are currently being tested in Firefox Nightly and feedback is being gathered through the Mozilla Connect community hub.Source: HackRead
