Talk about your role reversals.
Usually, it's up to a company's IT leaders to convince the CEO that investment in security and privacy technology is necessary. But at SC Congress Toronto yesterday, one CEO of an SMB said it was she who informed her corporate team that they could do more.
The CEO, Nicole Reader, runs Modern Mirror, a software company that specializes in 3D body visualization and virtualization technologies that allow online consumers to see how clothing fits on them without actually trying it on. Reader said that because the company's website is not an e-commerce site, some of her team members, including the product manager thought that cybersecurity and privacy practices were important, but not of the highest priority.
Reader's response: “We've got people's personal information, we've got body data, we work with luxury brands… it is an issue.”
Somewhere, a frustrated IT security executive wishes they worked for Nicole Reader.
