In a report by Bleeping Computer, Microsoft is enhancing security for Teams meetings by introducing support for third-party deepfake detection solutions and an integrated impersonation protection feature.
These new features, slated for general availability in November, will allow organizations to leverage certified third-party providers to analyze meeting media for synthetic or manipulated audio and video. Detection signals will be sent to Teams, enabling integrated in-meeting experiences and controls. Additionally, Teams will introduce a new impersonation protection feature designed to help users identify deceptive meeting organizers and participants. When a potential impersonation attempt is detected, Teams will surface warnings and risk indicators, allowing users to make more informed decisions. These updates are part of Microsoft's ongoing efforts to bolster Teams security, following recent announcements regarding admin controls to block external users and bots, blurring of QR codes from external senders, and the ability for users to report suspicious guest invitations. These measures aim to thwart social engineering attacks and phishing attempts that leverage Teams for malicious purposes.
