Lumen Technologies has unveiled Lumen Edge Private Cloud, which the company designed to appeal to enterprises seeking the computing power of a cloud platform combined with the security features of an edge-based solution, according to ZDNet. The company will make the new solution available through Lumen edge computing locations, on users' premises, third party data centers and through VMware Cloud on Amazon Web Services.
The service offers compute, network, storage and security and uses Lumen's bare metal Edge Compute platform as well as software-defined data center technology, VMware Cloud Foundation and VMware Cloud Director. It can be set up within days because it uses pre-built dedicated servers, the company said.
"We can help our customers enhance experiences, enhance application performance, and improve security and control -- with speed and at scale by empowering them to deploy workloads closer to digital interactions on pre-built hardware and managed infrastructure," said Chris McReynolds, vice president of cloud edge product management at Lumen.
