Lumen appoints Kim Keever as chief security officer

Lumen has appointed Kim Keever as its new chief security officer, bringing extensive experience in information security and cybersecurity leadership to the role. Keever previously served as chief information security officer at Cox Communications for over a decade and had a recent role at Charter-owned Spectrum.

She also holds a position on the U.S. government’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee, advising on connectivity infrastructure security for the President, based on information published by SDx Central.

Keever's appointment comes as Lumen expands its network-as-a-service offerings, notably following its $475 million acquisition of Alkira. This strategic growth includes a significant focus on bolstering security measures. At Cox, Keever was instrumental in developing a comprehensive cyber risk management program, overseeing network security, threat intelligence, identity management, and operational technology resilience.

Her prior experience also includes leadership roles at The Coca-Cola Company, where she managed security controls and governance. Lumen's enhanced security efforts are further supported by integrations like the network threat intelligence partnership with Palo Alto Networks, extending its Multi-Cloud Gateway service to over 10 million U.S. business locations.
