Based on information from Bleeping Computer, law enforcement agencies from 17 countries across Latin America and Europe have apprehended 95 individuals in a coordinated operation targeting the online distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The operation, named International Effort Confluencia, involved four separate law enforcement actions conducted between March 2026 and September 2026.
The extensive investigation resulted in the execution of 127 search warrants and the rescue of a 5-year-old victim. Authorities in Ecuador uncovered a suspect with approximately 15GB of CSAM, while Panama arrested the administrator of a group disseminating abusive material to over 700 users. In Argentina, a suspect is accused of sextortion after allegedly contacting over 260 girls worldwide and threatening those who refused to provide explicit content. INTERPOL highlighted that these platforms are increasingly used for grooming, coordinating abuse, and commercializing illegal content, leading to the revictimization of children. Seized material is expected to aid in identifying further offenders and children at risk. This operation follows previous successful actions against CSAM distribution, including Operation Cumberland, the takedown of the Kidflix platform, and Operation Alice, which shut down over 373,000 fake CSAM sites.
