Identity industry veteran to head Okta's Asia Pacific strategy

Attackers leverage stolen credential to access Okta’s support case management system

Security Brief Australia reports that Okta has appointed identity industry veteran Dan Mountstephen as Senior Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific and Japan, based in Singapore, to lead the company's next phase of regional growth.

Mountstephen, formerly SVP at Saviynt, will oversee regional strategy, sales execution, and a partner-led go-to-market approach focused on large enterprises and public sector organizations. Jon Addison, Okta's Chief Revenue Officer, stated Mountstephen is positioned to expand Okta's footprint and make it "the number one identity layer for the region's largest organisations."

Mountstephen emphasized that "identity has become the control plane for security, transformation, and the AI era," and committed to earning partner choice through strategic alliances as a "force multiplier." His appointment aligns with Okta's focus on securing both human and non-human identities as organizations adopt more cloud services and AI agents, a domain where Okta notes only 10% of organizations have a management strategy.

The company recently announced platform enhancements for building secure AI agents and issuing tamper-proof digital credentials to combat AI-powered fraud, addressing critical gaps in the evolving threat landscape.
