IBM launches free collaborative threat-sharing platform

Share

IBM launched a cyber threat intelligence sharing platform Thursday that it is billing as a social media network for security analysts.

The library of intelligence data available through the IBM X-Force Exchange will offer more than 700 terabytes of aggregated data for free, according to the company's press release.

The cloud-based platform will allow organizations to “easily collaborate on security incidents, as well as benefit from the ongoing contributions of IBM experts and community members,” the release stated.

Users can interact with industry peers, analysts and researchers, both from IBM and other companies.

IBM cited one hypothetical situation during which its X-Force Exchange could work. If a researcher discovers a malware domain and notes it as such in the platform, further analysis can be done and then users could determine whether or not to apply blocking rules for their company.
