Harmonic Security raises $50 million to govern employee AI tool usage

Many dollar banks note on money background

Reported by Silicon Angle. Harmonic Security Inc., a startup focused on artificial intelligence security in the workplace, announced today that it has secured $50 million in new funding. This capital infusion is intended to fuel the expansion of its platform, which is designed to manage and govern how employees utilize AI tools.

The company's platform operates by inspecting data shared by employees with AI tools in real-time, before it reaches the AI. Custom small language models analyze these interactions within milliseconds, providing immediate verdicts. The system is designed to detect sensitive information, such as live credentials, while allowing legitimate work-related queries, like a developer referencing a database schema, to pass through. Harmonic has extended its security checks from browser-based applications to desktop AI tools and agentic workflows, areas identified as common sources of risk, such as employees using personal accounts for work-related AI services. The funding will support engineering and go-to-market hires, aiming to enhance the platform's capabilities and reach. Harmonic has also integrated its technology with platforms from Cisco Systems Inc. and Anthropic PBC, allowing for broader enterprise adoption and visibility into AI usage and its associated risks.
