Major Indian pharmaceutical manufacturing firm Granules India was claimed to be compromised by the LockBit ransomware group, with the company along with some stolen data listed on the ransomware operation's leak site, according to TechCrunch.
LockBit's claims have not been confirmed by Granules India, which reported last month a cyberattack that prompted it to isolate impacted IT assets.
"The company is investigating the matter with utmost priority. The appropriate containment and remediation actions are being taken in a controlled manner to address the incident," said Granules India in a stock exchange filing.
Prior to the admission of LockBit, the ransomware operation was reported by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and its international counterparts to have the most pervasive ransomware variant in 2022 and 2023.
Nearly 1,700 attacks have been conducted by LockBit against U.S. targets since 2020, wherein it was able to rake in almost $91 million, according to the joint advisory.
