SecurityWeek reports that Google has implemented a twofold increase in rewards for eligible Google Nest and Fitbit vulnerability reports under its bug bounty program.
Google said that the Google WiFi and Nest WiFi, Nest Protect, Chromecast, cameras, speakers, displays, door locks, doorbells, and thermostats, as well as Fitbit Versa 3, Luxe, Sense, Inspire 2, and Charge 5 will be covered by the bug bounty program, which is under its Bug Hunters Platform.
While the new rewards structure will be valid over the next six months, Google will also retroactively provide higher bounties for Nest and Fitbit reports that have been submitted last year.
Meanwhile, all of Google's first-party devices, such as the Google Pixel, Fitbit, and Nest devices, will be brought under one program.
"This program extends the Android Security Reward Program, making it easier for researchers to submit a vulnerability in first-party devices and improving consistency across our severity assignments," Google said.
