Google launches Gemini 3.8 Flash and Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber

Google has launched two new large language models, Gemini 3.8 Flash and Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber, just three weeks after its previous release. Gemini 3.8 Flash is a general-purpose model, while Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber is specifically designed for cybersecurity researchers and is available through the new Fairwind Program, based on information published by Silicon Angle.

Gemini 3.8 Flash demonstrated strong performance across 16 AI benchmarks, outperforming competitors like Claude Opus 5 and GPT 5.6 Sol in nine tests, particularly in multistep coding tasks and financial data analysis. Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber achieved an 86.2% score on the CyberGym benchmark for spotting vulnerabilities in C and C++ code, surpassing Claude Mythos 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol. The Fairwind Program, an early access initiative for government agencies, critical infrastructure operators, and tech firms, provides access to Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber along with CodeMender, a toolset developed by Google DeepMind to enhance vulnerability detection and patching.

Google is internally using Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber to accelerate development, with the Chrome team reporting a significant increase in correct patch generation for browser vulnerabilities.
