Google has joined the Industry Accord Against Online Scams & Fraud, a global initiative uniting tech companies, governments, and law enforcement to combat cybercrime. The company signed the accord during the UN Global Fraud Summit in Vienna, Austria, pledging its infrastructure and expertise to fight online fraud, Tech Radar reports.
The Industry Accord is a voluntary agreement focused on collaboration to prevent scams, improve fraud detection, and expedite responses to threats. Google will expand its Global Signal Exchange to enhance data sharing and technical capabilities among partners. Other signatories include Adobe, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI.
The accord aims to unify collective capabilities and share threat intelligence to counter sophisticated, organized criminal networks that cause significant financial and emotional harm to users worldwide.
