German police coordinate with Europol to nab DroidJack users

German police, working with European Union (EU) criminal intelligence and judicial agencies Europol and Eurojust, conducted raids on the homes of DroidJack users throughout Germany.

The raids were part of an international operation targeting users who bought and used DroidJack malware between 2014 and 2015.

Europol, Eurojust, and German police coordinated the operation with France, Britain, Belgium, Switzerland and U.S. law enforcement agencies, Europol said. The international operation raided 13 homes in Germany and one in Switzerland, according to AFP.

DroidJack, the mobile phone malware used to listen on phone calls and take control of Android phones remotely, is a favorite among cybercriminals.

This week, researchers at Recorded Future said Iranian hackers show an increasing interest in remote access trojans (RATs) like DroidJack and AndroRAT that target Android systems.
