Former college student pleads guilty to cyberstalking faculty member

A former student of the University of Missouri-Kansas City has pleaded guilty of harassing a faculty member for months through threatening emails.

Kenna Haight, a 27-year-old resident of Virginia Beach, Va., faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for cyberstalking the instructor from Oct. 1, 2013 to Dec. 11, 2013, according to a release by U.S. Attorney's Office. 

Haight sent threatening emails to the instructor that included comments such as, “I keep having homicidal fantasies that keep me up at night around you.” In an interview with federal agents on Nov. 21, 2013, she admitted to sending the emails, even after the instructor repeatedly made it clear to stop communicating with her.

Under federal statutes, Haight must serve at least one year in federal prison.
