FleetWave suffers major outage after cybersecurity incident

A significant cybersecurity incident has caused a major outage for FleetWave, impacting services across the UK and US. Chevin Fleet Solutions, the provider of the SaaS platform, proactively took parts of its system offline, leaving customers without access to critical fleet management tools. The disruption began on April 3 and is ongoing, according to a recent report by The Register.

Chevin Fleet Solutions confirmed that FleetWave environments hosted in Azure in both the UK and US were taken offline as a precautionary measure. The company is working with external cybersecurity specialists on artifact analysis and threat hunting, while implementing additional security controls. FleetWave is a platform used for managing vehicles, drivers, maintenance, compliance, and logistics.

The exact nature of the incident, including the attack method or whether customer data was compromised, has not been disclosed. Some customer environments, particularly in the EU and Australia, appear to remain online, suggesting a potentially targeted attack or a phased containment strategy. The uncertainty leaves customers awaiting updates on service restoration, expected by April 10.
