FingerprintJS launches AI agent ecosystem for fraud prevention

FingerprintJS Inc. has launched a new ecosystem of signed artificial intelligence agents designed to help enterprises differentiate between legitimate AI traffic and malicious bots. This aims to provide businesses with a more nuanced approach to managing automated interactions online, moving beyond simple bot blocking strategies, according to a report by Silicon Angle.

The new ecosystem allows businesses to identify and authenticate AI agents, enabling them to distinguish authorized AI traffic from malicious bots and scrapers. AI agents, capable of complex tasks like online shopping, research, and stock trading, increasingly mimic human behavior. The system allows companies to selectively permit trusted AI agents while monitoring unknown ones for suspicious activity and blocking those with known malicious signatures. Early partners include OpenAI, Amazon Web Services' AgentCore, Browserbase, and Manus (acquired by Meta Platforms Inc. in 2025).

By enabling selective permissioning of AI agents and maintaining audit trails, companies can better combat payment fraud and enhance user experiences. The move reflects a broader industry trend towards managing, rather than simply blocking, automated web traffic.
