The Federal Communications Commission this week released an online tool that offers a number of best practices for securing mobile devices. Known as the Smartphone Security Checker, the guidance, which can be customized for each of the four major mobile operating systems, offers 10 tips, including "how to set PINs and passwords, where to find security apps, how to enable remote locating and data wiping, and how to bac kup and secure your data in case your device is lost or stolen." The tool was created in partnership with several government agencies and mobile security companies.
