The FBI and Department of Homeland Security's Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT) has scheduled a series of unclassified webinars and threat briefings across the U.S. addressing the 2015 cyberattack against Ukraine's electrical grid.According to the ICS-CERT's website, the briefings, which began on Mar. 31, 2016 and will continue through Apr. 29, 2016, are aimed at ICS “asset owners and supporting personnel” and designed to “increase awareness of the threat and provide additional context.” The sessions will discuss techniques used by the hackers — Ukraine has publicly blamed Russia — as well as defense and mitigation strategies. The next session will take Apr. 12, in Washington D.C.Earlier this month, research project Public Intelligence leaked a January 2016 DHS document stating that the majority of cyber intrusions against the U.S. energy sector have been low-level and opportunistic cybercrimes, and that the current risk of a destructive cyberattack is low.
