Black Duck Software introduces AI model risk scanning

Black Duck Software Inc. has unveiled AI model risk scanning in its Software Composition Analysis platform to address the growing complexity of open-source AI models integrated into software development processes, as reported today by Silicon Angle.

The new AI model risk insights feature enables the identification and analysis of AI models, including those hidden or modified, to provide companies with a comprehensive understanding of their AI model landscape. Key features include AI model identification, CodePrint scanning for detecting models from repositories like Hugging Face, license compliance checks, and metadata display to ensure regulatory adherence and compliance with project requirements. The technology offers integration and scalability within existing Black Duck workflows, supporting emerging standards such as the European Union AI Act and the U.S. Executive Order on AI.

By offering visibility into model usage, licensing, and data origins, the platform aims to empower companies to securely integrate AI models while ensuring regulatory compliance.
