Cyberattack disclosed by Air Cte d’Ivoire after INC ransomware claims

Plain code with the word "cyberattack" in red.

Air Cte d'Ivoire, which is the flag carrier of the West African nation, has confirmed that its systems had been compromised in a cyberattack earlier this month after the INC ransomware operation asserted that it had stolen 208 GB from the airline's systems, which it threatened to leak by Feb. 24, according to The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future.

With the intrusion impacting portions of its information systems, Air Cte d'Ivoire has already enlisted Cte d'Ivoire's Computer Emergency Response Team and technical experts to investigate the incident and ensure continued operations.

"We are making every effort with the competent authorities to limit the consequences. We want to reassure the public of the stability of our flight program and the continuity of its operation in stringent compliance with international safety standards," said the airline.

The attack against Air Cte d'Ivoire follows ransomware intrusions against Australian airline Qantas, Envoy Air, Spanish airline Iberia, and several Russian airlines.
