Digital platform provider Conduent has agreed to pay $80 million to settle a class action lawsuit stemming from a 2024 cyber incident that compromised the personal and health data of approximately 62 million individuals, with further coverage provided by Infosecurity Magazine.
The settlement, filed on Oct. 16, 2026, will cover material losses, credit monitoring, and legal fees. Claimants are divided into two subclasses: 40 million individuals whose data was in less accessible backup files and 22 million whose data was more readily accessible. Direct cash reimbursements, up to $3,500, are available only to those with documented losses from fraud or identity theft. Conduent, which provides business services for government health programs and toll systems, denies fault but has agreed to enhance its data security practices. The breach, allegedly by the SafePay ransomware gang, exposed sensitive information including Social Security numbers and medical details. This incident ranks as the third-largest healthcare data breach of all time, following the Change Healthcare and Anthem breaches, with further coverage provided by Infosecurity Magazine.
