A new content management system called EmDash CMS has been released by Cloudflare with the help of artificial intelligence to address a "security crisis" affecting the 24-year-old platform WordPress, which is experiencing a "security crisis" that puts millions of websites at risk, according to HackRead.Developed using AI coding agents two months ago, EmDash uses TypeScript instead of PHP and is described as a rebuild of the WordPress CMS. It uses serverless technology and is driven by Astro, a framework designed for speed. Instead of requiring a server to run constantly, this enables a website to "scale to zero," so it remains inactive and costs nothing until a visitor arrives. With its integrated Model Context Protocol server and Agent Skills, it enables AI assistants to oversee the website or assist in migrating outdated WordPress themes.Additionally, it has a payment layer called x402 that allows owners to charge automated AI bots for reading their content by using an "HTTP 402 Payment Required" code. It completely does away with passwords and uses Passkeys by default to prevent unwanted access. In a blog, WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg argued that "EmDash was created to sell more Cloudflare services," adding that WordPress is still more flexible because it can run from a massive data center to a Raspberry Pi.
