Network security firm Check Point Software Technologies has struck a deal to acquire an Israeli cybersecurity startup that has developed a threat prevention engine.
Founded in 2013, Tel Aviv-based Hyperwise has developed a new technology – which is expected to be added to Check Point's threat emulation portfolio – that specializes in eliminating cyber threats “at the point of pre-infection” although no details have been shared regarding how it actually operates, according to a release by Check Point.
The terms of the deal, which the company said will not have an effect on its financial results, were not disclosed. However, Check Point has reportedly said it is worth “tens of millions of dollars,” according to a Reuters report.
Hyperwise has ties to Israel's military intelligence Unit 8200, the group believed to have been behind the creation of Stuxnet.
