A significant ransomware attack has crippled key systems at U.S. payment gateway provider BridgePay Network Solutions, leading to a widespread outage that has impacted numerous services and merchants. The incident, which began on Friday, has caused nationwide disruptions to payment processing, with further coverage provided by Bleeping Computer.

BridgePay confirmed the ransomware attack late Friday, stating that federal law enforcement, including the FBI and U.S. Secret Service, along with external forensic and recovery teams, have been engaged. While the company reported no evidence of payment card data compromise, stating that accessed files were encrypted, the attack has rendered several core systems inoperable. These include the BridgePay Gateway API, PayGuardian Cloud API, MyBridgePay virtual terminal and reporting, hosted payment pages, and PathwayLink gateway and boarding portals. Merchants relying on BridgePay's platform have reported being forced to accept cash-only payments due to the nationwide card-processing outage.
