According to Silicon Angle, cloud-based software company Box Inc. has launched Box Shield Pro, an AI-powered add-on designed to enhance its content security platform. This new offering aims to address the escalating challenges of managing and securing unstructured data, particularly in the wake of rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and automation.

Box Shield Pro introduces several key features to automate content classification, accelerate ransomware detection and streamline security operations. The AI Classification Agent uses context-aware AI to automatically label sensitive content, moving beyond rigid rules for greater accuracy. Ransomware Activity Detection extends protection to endpoints, monitoring for mass file modifications or encryption indicative of an attack and alerting administrators within minutes. The AI Threat Analysis Agent further supports security teams by converting raw threat telemetry into plain-language summaries, enabling faster incident comprehension and reducing operational fatigue. This add-on is available immediately for enterprise customers of Box Shield, with the AI Threat Analysis Agent expected in early 2026.

The introduction of Box Shield Pro highlights the growing need for advanced security solutions capable of handling the exponential growth of unstructured data, amplified by generative AI. As organizations grapple with balancing user empowerment and stringent security controls, tools like Shield Pro aim to provide automated defenses. This development underscores a broader industry trend towards AI-driven security to mitigate risks like ransomware and operational overload.
