Bitdefender launches program for EU data sovereignty and compliance

Microsoft blames CrowdStrike outage on EU regs

Bitdefender has launched a new program designed to enhance European Union (EU) data sovereignty and regulatory compliance for organizations within the region. The initiative aims to provide a fully European cybersecurity and data hosting solution, ensuring that sensitive data remains within EU jurisdiction. This move addresses growing concerns about non-EU vendors and their adherence to European legal frameworks, as reported by Channel Insider.

The Bitdefender Sovereignty Acceleration Program enables European organizations to transition to a cybersecurity ecosystem where customer data, security events, and telemetry are processed and stored exclusively within the EU. This addresses concerns that many non-EU cybersecurity providers, despite having EU data centers, remain subject to foreign legal jurisdictions. The program includes a contract buyout incentive to facilitate migration from non-EU providers. It is designed to help organizations meet stringent data residency and sovereignty mandates, supporting compliance with regulations such as GDPR, NIS2, and DORA. Key sectors targeted include public sector, financial services, healthcare, and critical infrastructure.

The program leverages Bitdefender's GravityZone platform, which offers endpoint protection, detection, and response capabilities, aiming to ensure that European data sovereignty does not compromise cybersecurity effectiveness.
