Betsson deploys Group-IB fraud protection technology

Online gambling operator Betsson Group has deployed fraud protection and threat intelligence technology from cybersecurity firm Group-IB to combat a rising tide of sophisticated threats targeting its global sports betting and casino platforms, Security Brief New Zealand reports.

The partnership aims to address persistent risks including account takeovers, payment fraud, bonus abuse, and phishing through a more proactive, predictive security approach. Group-IB's Fraud Protection system combines real-time behavioral analytics with adversary-focused threat intelligence to detect suspicious patterns and anomalies while minimizing friction for legitimate users. A key feature of the agreement is Group-IBs "No Play, No Bill" commercial model, which removes costs associated with one-time bonus abusers. Betssons Head of AML & Risk Operations, Jamie Frendo, stated the collaboration reinforces the company's commitment to providing "unmatched security" and customer confidence as it expands into new markets.

Group-IB CEO Dmitry Volkov emphasized the need for "proactive, predictive, and adversary-centric fraud prevention" against increasingly sophisticated cybercriminals. The deployment includes 24/7 support from Group-IBs regional Digital Crime Resistance Centres, leveraging both AI-driven detection and human analyst expertise to protect Betssons international portfolio of brands and diverse payment ecosystems.
