AI adoption in IAM remains low despite clear benefits

AI promises to revolutionize IAM by enabling continuous, predictive monitoring for unusual activity, automating time-consuming manual reviews, and facilitating just-in-time, task-based provisioning. However, adoption is hindered by several key barriers: poor data quality, lack of explainability in AI decision-making, organizational resistance to change, and complex integration challenges across legacy and modern platforms.

Experts recommend a phased approach, starting with data cleanup and limited pilot programs for high-risk roles, while keeping human oversight in the loop to build trust. As enterprises increasingly rely on SaaS and AI applications, integrating intelligent governance is seen as essential for enhancing security posture and operational agility.
