A new study by security firm Kaspersky Lab sheds light on the three sectors in which the NotPetya malware wreaked havoc.

Of the total companies impacted by the malware, banks, manufacturers, and oil and gas utilities comprised roughly 82% of the attacked companies, according to the study, reported on by SC Media.

Of those three sectors, finance companies accounted for a majority of the attacks (32%), while oil and gas corporations received the next highest share (25%) of infections.

On Tuesday, June 27, the infamous malware was behind a global attack which initially sparked in the Ukraine, but impacted companies in Spain, India, the UK, and the U.S.

Shortly after the malware made headlines, one security expert found a way from preventing the nasty malware from infecting computers.
